The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as De La Salle Brothers, is a religious congregation of men founded by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron saint of teachers of youth.
The Brothers are consecrated to procuring God’s glory and the salvation of the young through the ministry of providing a human and Christian education to the young, especially the poor and marginalized. The Brothers have answered a call to a vocation of faith, community, and service with the work of teaching the minds and touching the hearts of the young people entrusted to their care. Together with their Lasallian Partners, the Brothers exercise a ministry that is rooted in the charism of Saint John Baptist de La Salle and realized through the over three-century tradition of Lasallian education.
The Lasallian Partners are the non-Brother professionals and volunteers who work in association with the Brothers in Lasallian ministries and other works.
Entrusted by the Brothers to assist with maintaining the Lasallian Catholic character and activity of the Institute’s apostolates, Partners bring their unique experiences and perspectives to the historical structures and dynamics of Lasallian ministry. Many Partners serve in key administrative and governance roles in Lasallian schools, as well as Institute leadership roles in Districts, Regions, and in Rome.
In a spirit of shared Mission, the Partners are formed in the Lasallian story and tradition so as to steward the Lasallian charism and ensure its continued authenticity and vibrancy.
