The Twinning program of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools partners Districts capable of providing funds with Districts in need. Begun in 1995 and coordinated by Christian Brothers Conference in Washington, D.C., the program twins schools in the U.S. Districts in the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) with the Lwanga District in Africa, which includes the countries of Kenya, Nigeria, Eritrea, Ethiopia and South Africa.

RELAN schools, including those of the District of San Francisco New Orleans, sponsor activities and events to assist their African twin schools in meeting the cost of educating their students. As the schools partner, African students and RELAN students learn about each others’ schools and cultures, developing a global social awareness and building solidarity as members of the worldwide Lasallian family.
