          Br. Chris Patiño, F.S.C.

District of San Francisco New Orleans (SFNO) Brother Chris Patiño, F.S.C. has been named a recipient of The National Religious Vocation Conference’s (NRVC) Outstanding Recognition Award.  The Award was presented at the NRVC’s biennial convocation, which was held November 3-6, 2022, in Spokane, WA.

Brother Chris was one of four NRVC members who were recognized for “their substantial contributions to vocation ministry as a whole.”  In addition to being a member, Brother Chris also served for several years as the West Coast member area co-coordinator.

Formerly SFNO’s Director of Vocation Ministry, Brother Chris is currently one of five General Councilors of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.  The mission of the Brother General Councilors is to assist Brother Superior General Armin Luistro, FSC, in the government and the animation of the Institute.

Because of previous commitments, Brother Chris was unable to attend the convocation, but did send a video message in which he conveyed his thanks and reflected on his work in vocation ministry.

“To be entrusted,” he said, “with the accompaniment of those discerning God’s will in their life, to have the opportunities to share in the joy of religious life with others, to offer this ministry to our Church and out world, to inspire one another in the revitalization of our own communities, and to accompany one another in the highs and lows of a unique ministry has been a true gift, and only strengthened through the guidance and support that the NRVC provides.”

The National Religious Vocation Conference is the official religious vocation conference in the United States as recognized by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USSCB.)  It serves as the professional organization for religious vocation directors whose primary goal is to help women and men discern a religious vocation, assess candidates interested in becoming Catholic sisters, brothers and priests, and welcome new members to religious life.
