Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Intention: For all youth, that they might receive in their lives the understanding, accompaniment, and love that they need to discover and embrace their best, truest selves.

Today’s Gospel | John 15:9-11

Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you.  Remain in my love.  If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.”

From the Second Meditation for the Time of Retreat | Saint John Baptist de La Salle

You must be full of zeal, so that your students may be able to receive a share in the grace that is in you for doing good and your zeal may draw down on you the Spirit of God to inspire your students in the same way.

Eternal Father, your love has existed for all time, and each day it finds us and touches our lives.  Help us to love you through our faithfulness to your word and our love for one another.  Fill us with your Spirit and inspire us to be the presence of your compassion and justice to those who seek your comfort.  Grant that, together, we will find our fulfillment by living in your ways.  We ask this of you who lives and reigns with your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.  Amen.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts forever.
