La Salle College Preparatory, Pasadena, CA, has announced that Jamal Adams will be the school’s next principal, effective July 1, 2021. The announcement was made by the school’s president, Perry Martin, and Principal Search Committee chairperson Kjersti Holyfield.
Adams will succeed Courtney Kassakhian, who has announced that she will be stepping down at the end of this academic year after serving as La Salle’s principal since 2016.
In making the announcement, Martin said, “The Principal Search Committee is thrilled to welcome Mr. Adams to our La Salle community. We strongly believe that his background in academics, philosophy of education, and passion for extracurricular and co-curricular programming, coupled with his diversity and inclusion work, will help ensure that our Core Principles and values are upheld and cherished, in the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle.”
Adams is a 15-year faculty member at Loyola High School of Los Angeles, CA , where currently he is the Director of Faculty as well as the school’s Director of Equity and Inclusion. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Columbia University and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University.
