Saturday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time
Intention: That our Lasallian schools will be places where the sinfulness of exclusion and marginalization is dispelled by the light of community and respect.
Today’s Gospel | Mark 4:35-41
On that day, as evening drew on, he said to them, “Let us cross to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”

You must, then, be very devoted to prayer to succeed in your ministry. You must constantly represent the needs of your disciples to Jesus Christ, explaining to him the difficulties that you have experienced in guiding them. Jesus Christ, seeing that you regard him as the one who can do everything in your work, whereas you are an instrument that must be moved only by him, will not fail to grant you what you ask of him.
Prayer
Eternal Father, as we make our way through life, there are times when we find ourselves overwhelmed and seemingly alone. As we turn to you in prayer, renew our faith and restore our confidence. Help us to face our fears and to do what is right, always humble and constant in our desire to serve you. Make of us people worthy of the lives that you have given us. We ask this of who lives and reigns with your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
