Memorial of Saints Timothy and Titus, bishops

Intention: That our Lasallian schools will be places where the sinfulness of exclusion and marginalization is dispelled by the light of community and respect.

Today’s Gospel | Mark 3:31-35

The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house.  Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him.  A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you.”  But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and my brothers?”  And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.  For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

From the Fifteenth Meditation for the Time of Retreat | Saint John Baptist de La Salle

God is so good that he does not leave unrewarded the good work that is done for him and the service that is rendered to him, especially for the salvation of souls.  If it is true that God rewards so generously even in this world those who have left all things for him, that they receive a hundredfold in this life, with how much more reason will God reward even in this present time those who have devoted themselves with zeal to spread his kingdom!

Eternal Father, we are created to all be one in you.  In doing your will, we help to build your Kingdom of justice, healing the differences and distances between us.  Strengthen our faith and our resolve to serve one another as brothers and sisters, especially those who are most in need.  Make of us a selfless and caring people that is devoted to bringing our world to the saving knowledge of you.  We ask this of you who lives and reigns with your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.  Amen.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts forever.
