Intention: That all who serve in the ministry of education devote themselves to giving care and attention to every student, especially those who are most in need, by teaching their minds and touching their hearts.
Today’s Gospel | John 15:9-17
Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.”
“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you: love one another.”
From the Meditation on Saint Matthias, Apostle | Saint John Baptist de La Salle
Realize that to carry out your ministry properly, you must have in it no human considerations, and you must not be concerned about anything that cannot help you bring about the salvation of the souls for whom you are responsible. This is the purpose of your state and of your work. Is this how you are acting?
Eternal Father, it seems that we are always looking for you or waiting for you, but then when you come to us, we refuse to believe it. Quiet our doubts and confusion, so that we may see that we are surrounded by your redeeming work. Teach us to recognize the sound of your voice and the touch of your hand on our hearts. Steady us to do your work with courage and zeal, seeing and enduring all things with the eyes and the spirit of faith. We ask this of you who lives and reigns with your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
