De Marillac Academy in San Francisco, California has announced that Chellsea Rivera has been appointed as principal of De Marillac Academy, effective July 1, 2018. Rivera currently serves as the school’s interim principal, a role she has filled since July 1, 2017.
“I am extremely grateful,” Rivera said in accepting her appointment, “to be back and to serve the students, graduates, and families of De Marillac Academy. I am blessed to be apart of such an amazing team and excited for the work we’ll do together.”
Dedicated to ensuring a rigorous and effective learning environment for all students of all academic levels, Rivera has led the De Marillac faculty this past year in its continued implementation of personalized learning.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Rivera attended Catholic schools at every level of her education. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology, as well as her Master’s degree in Secondary Education, from the University of San Francisco. Prior to her arrival at De Marillac, her professional experience included basketball coach at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in San Francisco, followed by tenures both as the dean of student life and as principal of the former Saint Elizabeth High School in Oakland.
In making the announcement, De Marillac president Theresa Flynn Houghton stated, “Chellsea is an extremely devoted educator who is committed to Lasallian/Vincentian education at De Marillac Academy. I look forward working with her to sustain and continue to improve the educational experience at De Marillac.”
