The Board of Trustees of Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley, California has announced that Lawrence Puck will serve as the next President of Saint Mary’s College High School, effective July 1, 2018. The announcement was made by board chair Fiona Doyle.
Puck will succeed Brother Edmond Larouche, FSC, who is stepping down after 21 years as Saint Mary’s president.
A member of the school’s Class of 1978, Puck joined the Saint Mary’s staff in 1980. He has served as Dean of Student Life, Director of Campus Ministry, Vice President for Operations, Director of Admissions, Director of Alumni Relations, Director of Communications, and most recently, Vice President.
In her announcement, Doyle wrote, “I am exceedingly grateful to (Puck) for his willingness to step up now to lead and minister to our community. He is well aware of the incredible challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for Saint Mary’s and Catholic education and looks forward to beginning a new chapter in his life’s journey.”
Puck also has been actively engaged in Lasallian Formation and Education at the District Level and served on the District of San Francisco Mission Council and on the Boards of De Marillac Academy and Justin-Siena High School. He was recognized as Lasallian Educator of the Year by the District of San Francisco and also by Saint Mary’s College High School.
“I am ready,” Puck said, “to address our challenges and needs by inspiring and working closely with our incredible administrators, faculty and staff, along with appropriate input and support of parents, alumni, and students. Challenges force change – from change can come greatness. I am looking forward to advancing Saint Mary’s legacy as we move forward by setting a strong direction for our future.”
