Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Easter
Intention: That all who serve in the ministry of education devote themselves to giving care and attention to every student, especially those who are most in need, by teaching their minds and touching their hearts.
Today’s Gospel | John 12:44-50
Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me, and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me. I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world. Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has something to judge him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day, because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say as the Father told me.”
From the Meditation on Saint Gregory of Nazianzen | Saint John Baptist de La Salle
Do not be surprised, therefore, if in doing your work, you meet with difficulties and contradictions. The more you suffer, the more you ought to be encouraged to fulfill your duties well, because then you can be sure that God will pour out abundant blessings on the work you are doing.
Prayer
Eternal Father, it seems that we are always looking for you or waiting for you, but then when you come to us, we refuse to believe it. Open the eyes of our souls, so that we may see that we are surrounded by your redeeming work. Teach us to recognize the sound of your voice and the touch of your hand on our hearts. Steady us to do your work with courage and zeal, seeing and enduring all things with the eyes and the spirit of faith. We ask this of you who lives and reigns with your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
