san-miguelSpecial from San Miguel High School, Tucson. San Miguel High School’s Club Pag-asa has been named the recipient of this year’s National Philanthropy Day Award for Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy. The award will be presented at the National Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon on November 19 in Tucson.

The National Philanthropy Day Awards “recognize those in the (Tucson) community who ‘change the world with a giving heart’”. The Awards are sponsored by the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Since 2005, Club Pag-asa has raised money to help support Bahay Pag-asa (“House of Hope”) which is a youth center in the Philippines that helps to rehabilitate youth instead of placing them in jail with adults. Club Pag-asa raises money for this center and other schools around the world through school fundraisers and clothing drives.

National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is a special day set aside to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy and those people active in the philanthropic community and to celebrate Tucson’s generous spirit.
