The 9th annual International Lasallian Days for Peace (ILDP) are slated to begin on September 21, 2015 and run through October 21, 2015.
An initiative of the International Council of Young Lasallians, ILDP reminds Lasallian worldwide of the call to be peacemakers. Through the month-long observance, the ICYL encourages activities of reflection, community prayer, study, and action throughout the month.
The theme for this year’s International Lasallian Days for Peace is “Blessed are the Peacemakers: for they will be called children of God.” According to the San Francisco New Orleans District’s Director of Young Lasallians, Heather Ruple Gilson, “The International Council of Young Lasallians (ICYL) felt it would be important to be in line with the Institute theme for 2015-2016: ‘A Gospel Adventure.’ In choosing this year’s theme, the ICYL also wanted to pay attention to the theme of the World Youth Day (WYD) in Poland, and Pope Francis’ own message to young people. Since WYD 2013, Pope Francis has identified the Beatitudes and Matthew 25 as a blueprint for Christian Discipleship for adolescents and young adults.”
The invitation of the ICYL is for participants to share their activities via Young Lasallians Facebook, Twitter (@younglasallians #younglasallians), or email (icyl@lasalle.org).
