SMHS StoneTuesday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time

This Week’s Intention: That God’s healing and peace may fill the hearts of all people.

Today’s Gospel | Matthew 7: 6, 12-14

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces. “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets. “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.”

From the Fifth Meditation for the Time of Retreat | St. John Baptist de La Salle

Ask God today for the grace to watch so well over the children confided to you that you will take every possible precaution to shield them from serious faults.

Ask God to be such good guides for them, through the light that you will procure for yourselves by turning to God and by the fidelity with which you do your work, that you will see clearly every obstacle to the good of their souls and keep away from the path of their salvation everything that could harm them.

This is the principal care you must have for the children entrusted to you. It is the main reason why God has entrusted you with so holy a ministry, and it is on this that God will call you to give a very exact account on the day of judgment.

Prayer

Eternal Father, you ask us each day to walk the path of faithfulness and integrity in our lives.  Fill us with the strength to do this, especially in the face of difficulty and temptation. Grant us the courage and confidence to persevere as your disciples and ambassadors.  May we be joyful in work, humble in service, and loyal and loving as we help one another to follow your ways and to grow in your truth.  We ask this of you who lives and reigns with your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.  Amen.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts forever.
