The tenth anniversary of the founding of San Miguel High School in Tucson, AZ has been highlighted by an Arizona magazine and in a school-produced video.
The winter, 2015 issue of the Tucson business journal, BizTucson, featured the school’s story in an article titled, “A School That Works: San Miguel Celebrates 10 Years”. Through the recollections of founding Diocesan and Lasallian leaders, community partners, and school faculty and students, “A School That Works” tells of San Miguel’s beginnings, as well as of its many achievements in working to meet the educational and social needs of young people living in the neighborhoods of Tucson’s impoverished south side.
The video, San Miguel High School: 10th Anniversary Celebration, begins, like the magazine article, by recounting the establishment and early days of the Cristo Rey-model school. It then presents a powerful series of testimonials from students, parents, administrators, and supporters, each describing the school’s profound impact on them and their community. Originally produced for school development events, it now is also featured on the San Miguel High School website.

San Miguel founding leaders (L-R) Br. Stan Campbell, former Visitor of legacy San Francisco District; Sr. Rosa Maria Ruiz, former Diocesan Superintendent of Schools; and Br. Nick Gonzalez, first school Principal.
On April 11, San Miguel High School commemorated a decade of success with a “Throwback to High School 10th Anniversary Celebration.” Past and present school members and benefactors gathered to celebrate not only ten years of student success, but also the faith, service, community and special individuals who helped San Miguel reach this momentous milestone.
