The Lasallian Student Leaders gathering for 2008 (LSL) brought more than 125 students from Lasallian schools in the District of San Francisco and the New Orleans-Santa Fe District together at Saint Mary's Collegeof California. This annual summer event helps participants to develop skills for effective leadership in their school communities. The goal is to help form principled and mission-centered leaders who can bring back to their diverse schools both leadership skills and effective community-building programs. Says Robert Jordan, assistant director of the Office of Education for the western province of the Christian Brothers, "The Lasallian Student Leaders program offers students the opportunity to explore and discern their greater purpose and what God is calling them to offer the world. Through skill training, direct application exercises, and experiences of prayer and worship, students are prepared to return to their school and local communities as leaders motivated to serve and inspired by the educational traditions of St. John Baptist de La Salle."
