The Board of Trustees of Mullen High School, Denver, CO, has announced the appointment of Dr. Timothy Burns as the school’s interim president and CEO for the 2018-19 school year, effective August 15, 2018.
“It is an honor and privilege to lead Mullen into the new school year,” said Dr. Burns, who joins Mullen from Forsyth School in St. Louis. MO, where he served as interim president 2017-18.
According to Mullen Board of Trustees chair Walt Coughlin, the school’s search committee identified Dr. Burns from a field of exceptional candidates. Coughlin stated, “Dr. Burns’ unique combination as a professional interim independent school president with more than four decades of a proven track record for success was the main reason for his selection.”
Coughlin continued, “His level of expertise and proven track record working as president and CEO with 14 independent schools across the country and his passion for Catholic education will benefit our students, faculty and staff. The board of trustees is excited to tap into his wealth of knowledge to continue driving excellence while staying true to the school’s Lasallian Catholic mission.”
Dr. Burns will work with faculty, staff and families to foster the board’s mission to ensure that Mullen continues to execute its current development plan and maintain momentum throughout the year.
Coughlin stressed that academics and the school’s day-to-day operations will continue to be overseen by the principal. “We are confident and excited to have Jeff Howard, a proven academic leader, as our principal.”
The school plans to begin soon the search process for its permanent president and CEO. “The current strategic plans for Mullen will require the right person to lead Mullen and we wanted to take the proper time to find our next president and CEO,” said Coughlin. A permanent president and CEO is expected to be in place by the start of the 2019-20 school year.
