Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, CA has announced that Mr. Chris Orr has been appointed as the school’s next principal, effective July 1, 2017. The announcement was made by school president Mr. Lorcan Barnes.
Mr. Orr succeeds current Christian Brothers’ principal Mr. John O’Connor, who has accepted the presidency of Cristo Rey Kansas City High School in Kansas City, MO.
Currently the principal of Langston Hughes Academy, an Aspire school in Stockton, CA, Mr. Orr’s 15 years of experience as an educator and administrator includes tenures as teacher, coach, dean of students, athletic director, assistant principal and principal.
Mr. Orr has significant family ties to Christian Brothers. His wife, Tashia, is a 1990 graduate of the school, as are his brother, Mark (1994), and sister, Tia (1995). In addition, Mr. Orr sons, Nicolas and Solomon, are members of the classes of 2017 and 2020 respectively.
As part of his transition to Christian Brothers, this summer Mr. Orr will begin attending the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies, an intensive three-summer Lasallian education and formation program that studies the life and work of St. John Baptist de La Salle and the origins of the Lasallian educational mission.
In welcoming Mr. Orr to his new position, school president Barnes stated, “Together, we look forward to building on Christian Brothers’ 141-year tradition of excellent education in a faith-filled Lasallian Catholic community.”
